The Top 5 Mistakes Made During an Energy Performance Contract (and how to avoid them!)

Thursday, November 7 :: 12:00-1:00pm

PresenterKendra McQuilton, CEO, ECG Group

The EPA recently reported that our nation’s public schools spend about $8 billion annually on energy, and 30% of that energy is used inefficiently. While this may sound negative, it really shows that school districts have a unique opportunity in front of them to make significant improvements to their operations.

A key strategy in this effort can be an Energy Performance Contract (EPC). EPC projects are a viable means to eliminate much of if not all of your school district’s inefficiencies, because unlike a traditional bond project, EPCs are comprehensive in nature and laser focused on the energy efficiency of the systems.

Although EPC projects are a wonderful tool for school districts to fund needed energy-related capital upgrades without taxpayer impact, they must be controlled properly to produce the desired results.

This session will teach school administrators to:
1. Explain concept of Energy Performance Contracting and how it is used to fund upgrades
2. Identify how an EPC differs from a traditional capital project
3. Understand the top 5 mistakes that are made during EPC projects and how to avoid them

Presenter will be Kendra McQuilton, CEO of The ECG Group, a firm specializing in technical consulting, design, and management of EPC projects. The ECG Group has successfully served as Technical Owner’s Rep and Engineer-of-Record on over 100 EPC projects that have generated $1 billion in self-funded construction.
